Honda Elevate 7-seater
Honda has two options for entering new segments in India. First One is to enter the compact SUV segment, competing alongside other compact SUVs with the WR-V. The other option is to bring the 7-seater Elevate to challenge the mid-size SUV segment. From a business standpoint, the 7-seater option carries a major importance for Honda. It has already localized parts for the Elevate, which will result in cost savings for Honda. Additionally, the profit margin in the 7-seater segment is higher compared to the compact SUV segment.
Moreover, the WR-V sold outside of India is larger than 4 meters in length. Therefore, Honda may need to do some re-engineering to remove the extra length for profitability. However, this is not impossible, and we hope that Honda will bring back the WR-V. But before that, let’s take a look at the Elevate 7-seater.
What could change?
The exterior design of the Elevate 7-seater might see some changes. It could be somewhat similar to what Hyundai Creta and Alcazar offer. As for the interior, we may expect some unique features in the 7-seater version. In terms of additional amenities, the Elevate 7-seater may come with a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a digital instrument cluster, and more.
Specifications
The Elevate comes with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine which generates 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. This engine performs quite well on the Elevate, but we’re not entirely sure if it will be sufficient for the 7-seater version. For that, Honda has used the same engine on the BR-V. However, we hope Honda will tweak this engine a bit for more power on the 7-seater. There should be both manual and automatic transmission options available.
Honda Elevate 7-seater – Launch and pricing
Honda has plans to launch four new SUVs by 2030,we can expect a new SUV every two years. With this timeline in mind, we might see the Elevate 7-seater as early as 2025. However, we hope Honda accelerates its development and launches the car by at least 2024. In terms of pricing, the Elevate 7-seater should be approximately 2 lakhs more expensive compared to the 5-seater model.
